DENSITY – GB/T 17657-1999 & GB/T 4897.1-2003 (particle board) & GB/T 11718-1999 (density board) & GB/T 15102-2006
1. TOOLS
1.1 Balance accurate to 0.01 g
1.2 Micrometer accurate to 0.01 mm
1.3 Vernier caliper accurate to 0.01 mm
2. SAMPLING
We cut three 400x400 mm mother samples from 1 sheet

We then cut one 100x100 mm (+/- 1 mm) final sample from each 400x400 mm mother sample and get three 100x100 mm final samples for testing

Samples shall be free from resin wood and features such as bark, knots and resin pockets
3. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Temperature: 20 (+/- 2) ℃
Humidity: 65 (+/-5) %
4. TESTING PROCEDURE
4.1 Weigh samples to an accuracy of 0.01 g

4.2 Measure the samples’ thickness on points A, B, C, D; average the result to an accuracy of 0.01 mm

4.3 Measure the samples’ length and width at the centre of the samples’ sides

4.4 Calculate the density to an accuracy of 0.01 g/cm3 and fill the report
p = (m/axbxh) x 1000
p = density expressed in g/m3
m = weight expressed in g
a = samples’ length expressed in mm
b = samples’ width expressed in mm
h = samples’ thickness expressed in mm
